The rosary been a sacred prayer handed down though the ages for the faithful. It is because of my devotion to Our Lady and my love of the rosary that I started this site. It started with the idea just to make and sell rosaries and it has blossomed into a vibrant place to find all sorts of religious articles and gifts that may be hard to find in the local communities. 

 I grew up in the North East and our parish had a gift store within the parish. I remember going to the local convent to buy my First Communion Veil but as I sit here I don’t remember where we bought my First Communion Dress.  I remember the convent having all sorts of stuff for First Communion. I went back later on as an adult and I couldn’t find the little store run by the Nuns and suppose it was another sign of the changing times for people of faith but didn’t realize it at the time.

 When I moved to the South I found that it was very difficult to find devotionals to Rosaries, Saint Medals and even Crucifixes, where most items are Wall Crosses, were extremely difficult. I even had to search out a Catholic Bible at one point because even the book store was not carrying the Catholic Bible. I suppose I’m not the only one in this situation because I seem to get customers from all over the country.

I’ve come to believe it’s important to be reminded though our religious home décor to remain faithful. Its easy in this world to become distracted. I think it’s important to at the very least to have an area in your home for you to pray. I know when I was younger, I never appreciated the people who had devotional areas or prayer corners set up in their home. After I purchased my first house, I had put a garden statue of Mary in my rose garden. I just thought the garden statue was the perfect touch to my champion roses. And my patio and garden became the prayer area of my home. Texas has nice weather to have an outdoor pray garden with garden statues around. I suppose if I was still in New Jersey I would need to make an area inside my home as well. When I moved 11 years later, I picked up my garden statue of Our Lady and even my rose bushes and off we went to our new home where I finally got to rebuild my garden and intend to spend more time out there this spring finishing it off.

I also think its an important example to have statuary around your home to help form and maintain a strong reminder of faith. The statues do help form and maintain a strong foundation in faith, especially if you have children in your home. As a catechism teacher, I am here to tell every parent you are the most important figure in your child’s religious life. We often hear from parents that they feel they aren’t qualified to teach, but teaching is though your example.  It is though your commitment, they are baptized. It is though you that they come to know the Lord in the First Holy Communion and helping them continue on with their faith journey though their Confirmation.

I am also Blessed to have found and became involved in our parish RCIA program. It is a great educational experience as well as helped me learn my faith and more importantly grow in my faith. These folks just as our children receive their First Holy Communion. Some need to be Baptized and all need to be sealed with the Holy Spirit though Confirmation. Our RCIA director calls them baby Catholics and I suppose she is exactly right on that, although a very unique way to put it. The RCIA offers a very unique opportunity to grow in your faith by being a sponsor if you are already Catholic. I was extremely interested in the program when I found out it was a way to learn about my faith, something I think was a little bit lacking even though I have a Catholic School education, all 12 years. What else I found was how rewarding it was to me to help the person, who God had called by name to complete their faith journey or return home to the Catholic Church.
