When kids grow up in a family that is religious it’s probably a good chance that they attend church weekly and if not weekly then at least regularly around certain holy weeks of upcoming religious holidays. Children’s advent is something all kids who attend church or religious classes will experience. Advent is celebrated by many different types of religions and is celebrated as the four weeks before Christmas. This would be the last four weeks that end the church year as Christmas starts a whole new year.
Advent is very important for children; it helps them count down the weeks to Christmas and helps them get ready for the excitement of Christmas. But one of the most important things about adventis it helps kids learn and realize that Charismas is not just all about receiving gifts from Santa and family members on Christmas day. Children’s advent gives kids the ability to learn about Jesus and what happen that day which in turn is the real reason that the holiday is celebrated every single year. They will learn that the gift giving tradition came about because when Jesus was born a lot of the town of Bethlehem where he was born came and brought gifts for him.
The excitement and anticipation of Christmas helps kids to want to learn and know why probably the most exciting day of the year takes place. It’s a lot like lent when kids are taught to give something up or promise to do something good for about thirty days. The anticipation of Easter and all the good candy that comes along with it makes kids more carious about what Easter is really about. This becomes even more important when kids start to grow up and realize the Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny is just a fairly tail, it is important for adults to help kids make since of why this these days are really celebrated.
One of the things that parents and teachers can do to help kids understand why the weeks before Christmas is so important is to set up projects. Children advent calendars, tree projects, and wreaths that kids can participate in will give them a chance to learn more about advent and Christmas as each week passes on.Sometimes it can be hard for kids to understand what is going on in church but in Sunday schools or religious adults can help kids understand what is going on and why a lot better by putting it in to terms and pictures that are more recognizable by kids.
Having kids learning about what Christmas is all about helps them appreciated the costumes that take place every year. Children’s Advent can give kids the knowledge of why they receive gifts and why families have the privilege of getting together every year. Not taking the holidays for granted and knowing that Christmas is not just all about getting gifts and that it’s about Jesus Christ’s and how he is the most celebrated religious figure in every church.
