The Jesse Tree Nativity Set

The Jesse tree is a small and leafless tree which is decorated with symbols which portray Jesus’ spiritual heritage it is a family tree which was once suggested by Isaiah’s prophecy which said; ‘there shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse and a branch shall grow out of his roots.’ The Jesse tree ornament set is composed of different ornaments which help to remind us of the promise of salvation made by God after the fall of Adam and Eve and they also remind us of the Jewish symbols and the types of Christ and the church.

The Jesse tree is said to represent 4000 years of salvation history when God prepared his people for the coming of the Savoir and this is the theme of the 4 weeks of advent in which the Jesse tree is used to represent this time, and the branch of the Jesse tree is usually a dead one without any green leaves and this symbolizes the fact that the soul is dead if you do not have God’s grace. You can make your own Jesse tree by choosing a shapely tree branch which has no leaves and then place it in a pot of earth and cover with bright paper. Then on each day of advent you can add one of the ornaments from the Jesse tree ornament set which you can actually make yourself.

The Jesse tree ornament set is usually comprised out of these symbols, one for each day of advent which is added as follows:
